A group from ONCE launches an accessible visit at the Mezquita-Catedral of Córdoba
Nearly forty ONCE members have taken an adapted tour of the Córdoba monument, with tactile access to the choir stalls and use of a tiflological station at the visitor reception centre.

A group of about forty members of the Organización Nacional de Ciegos de España (ONCE) has made an adapted visit to the Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba and to the Centro de Información y Recepción de Visitantes of the monument.
During the tour, the group was able to directly touch original elements that pose no conservation risk, such as the wooden choir stalls of the cathedral. They also stopped at the Centro de Información y Recepción de Visitantes to use the tiflológica station, a tool designed to help people with visual impairment understand the shape and space of the building.
The visit was accompanied by the canons Antonio Javier Reyes Guerrero and Carlos Jesús Gallardo Panadero, according to the note sent by the Cabildo de la Mezquita-Catedral.
This tour puts into practice the agreement signed on July 15 between the Cabildo Catedral de Córdoba and ONCE to promote accessibility to the monument. The agreement commits the Cabildo to offer free access to people who are blind or have a disability of over 65% and their companions, as well as discounts for organized groups and people with a lower degree of disability. Visitors will also have brochures in Braille and in accessible electronic formats.
For its part, ONCE participates by advising on techniques so that people with severe visual impairment can understand the dimensions and history of the space, and trains the Cabildo's staff in attending to this group.
