The installed turf comes from a reuse system: it is the pavement removed from the football field of Almodóvar del Río between 2021 and 2022. This method, known as «replacement», reduces the cost of the material compared to installing new turf.
The work has left a total sports pavement surface of approximately six thousand five hundred square meters, distributed across an eleven-a-side football field of 96.10 by 59.30 meters and two seven-a-side football fields of 59.30 by 37 meters.
Alongside the new playing field, six pop-up sprinkler heads have been installed, with a range of 40 meters, connected to a 20,000-liter water tank, to ensure the maintenance of the field.
The works, which according to the note had been requested for years, began their processing in 2018. The project is part of the actions of the Plan de Fomento del Empleo Agrario (PFEA), which during 2026 also includes new paving works, the creation of a walking route for the public, and the expansion of capacity with two new stands, north and south, reaching an approximate capacity of three hundred people.
For its part, the Entidad Local Autónoma has carried out other improvements to the venue with its own funds, including the construction of a padel court, a storage building, the renovation of lighting with LED technology, and maintenance work in changing rooms, showers and restrooms.
The president of the Diputación, Salvador Fuentes, visited the facilities to see the results of the works. According to the note, Fuentes stated that the improvements represent progress for Ochavillo del Río and will allow the children of the municipality to enjoy a quality public service.
The mayor of Ochavillo del Río, Manuel Arjona, thanked the Diputación for its work and noted, as the note states, that the facilities are not limited to the artificial turf, but also include the tidying up of the goals, the perimeter of the field and the lighting, actions which in his view require the joint effort of the different administrations.
