The Virgen de la Fuensanta arrives at the Mezquita-Catedral accompanied by young members of Córdoba's hermandades 07.09.26

The Mezquita-Catedral received yesterday afternoon the venerated image of Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta, patron saint of Córdoba, in the solemn transfer that marks the beginning of the central events of her festivity. The day began with the traditional blessing of the waters of the pocito at her Santuario, before starting her journey towards the first temple of the Diócesis.
The transfer was marked by profound youth participation. The youth groups of the Cordoban cofradías, in close collaboration with the Delegación Diocesana de Juventud, were in charge of receiving, accompanying and guiding the Virgen during the praying of the Santo Rosario throughout the whole route until her entrance into the cathedral precinct.
Events planned for the eve of her festivity
The sacred image will remain in the Mezquita-Catedral throughout today, Monday 7 de septiembre. At 19:30 horas a Solemne Eucaristía concelebrated by the Cabildo Catedralicio will be held.
After the ceremony, the return procession towards the Santuario de la Fuensanta will begin, in which representations of all the Hermandades y Cofradías of the city will take part. Upon arrival in the barrio, one of the most awaited and traditional moments of these festivities will take place: the welcoming of the Virgen by the children ringing their characteristic little bells, a prelude to the Festividad de la Natividad de Nuestra Señora that will be celebrated tomorrow, 8 de septiembre.
